Activity Report: Uganda
In Wakiso District near the capital city of Kampala, education program is being organized. People of community contribute materials and labor for the projects. In the future a number of projects we planned, including adult literacy course, agriculture training, vocational training, safe water, and public toilets.

Bicycles make HFW’s volunteers active
HFW’s office in Uganda has Hunger Free Zone (HFZ) committee, a volunteering organization established by those residents whom HFW has given support to. The committee in cooperation with HFW confirms how projects go and coordinates the schedules. At first, however, there was no transportation available, and the committee had hard time proceeding with their projects while going on foot.
In order to tackle this problem, Uganda Team, a group of HFW’s volunteers in Japan, contributed 100,000 yen, to buy bicycles. Those bicycles were presented on January 24 to 15 out of the total 35 committee members living in five HFZs. One member was glad, saying that the bicycle made him work for projects with joy and comfort.
HFW plans to offer bicycles to the rest of 20 members in future.
