Project safe drinking water supply – Construction of wells goes smoothly.

A complete well in Lwemwedde

Shallow well construction and training on maintenance

HFW-Uganda is putting its emphasis on education and the supply of safe drinking water. In August 2004, three new wells were completed. The well in Kabumba was constructed with a donation from the Nagoya Mizuho Rotary Club, the well in Lwemwedde from the bereaved family of Mr. Nagahisa Kitajima, a HFW member, and the well in Tumbaali from Ajinomoto Inc. and private donations.
These three wells are utilized by 1,800 people.

In Lwemwedde and Tumbaali, wells had been constructed before. But there were so many users that the well dried up from overuse.
By spacing many wells apart in this project, users will be dispersed and we can expect to avoid overuse of the wells.
