Participating in the African Festa 2010, an event to get to know Africa hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Samples of local foods displayed at the booth

"African Festa 2010," an event to get to know Africa hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was held on June 12 and 13 at the Red Brick Warehouse Event Square in Yokohama. HFW held a display booth selling handicrafts from Benin, Burkina Faso and Uganda, and explained about the activities there. Also, we held a report session in the venue, regarding the nursery construction project in Uganda. At the booth, aside from having panels explaining our activities, we displayed millet and processed food of cassava as examples of food from the three countries. We had comments such as "There are a lot of different varieties of millet in Burkina Faso." This event gave people the opportunity to take an interest in life in Africa.

Proceeds of ¥95,950 from the sales of handicraft over the two days will be used for projects to support the self-reliance of the people in Africa.
