HFW participating in Global Festa 2010. HFW set up many kinds of booth introducing our activity.

 

YEH members gave presentations on their visits and activities in Bangladesh, Uganda, and Benin at a workshop tent.

On 2 and 3 October, Global Festa Japan 2010 was held at Hibiya Park in Tokyo. During these two days, approximately 105,000 people attended the event. HFW set up an exhibition booth and a refreshment booth, and Youth Ending Hunger, a youth organization within HFW, also gave a presentation for their own activities.

At the refreshment booth volunteers sold Ugandan coffee and posho, a staple of the Ugandan diet made out of maize flour. In addition, the purchasers were given a recipe for posho and a quiz on Japan’s self-sufficiency in corn in order to promote food-related issues. On the second day, Yoshida Chiyoko, HFW staff in charge of projects in Uganda, gave a presentation about the problems of world hunger including the examples from Uganda at an event entitled “Chikyu no Gohan no Hi (Day for the Food for the World) ,”

The sum total from sales and contributions throughout the event amounted to 186,819 yen, and the net profit will be used to promote self reliance in countries where HFW is active.
